Bad business tricks

Companies who are taking advantage of employees because of the down economy.

"Good morning", The CEO said as he  addressed the employees in the company meeting, engaging the employees seemingly acting as if they  had some concern about their issues for the company and their paychecks. As the meeting proceeded they began with story's of their acquaintances who informs them of the plight of the economy and the lasting effects.

If you have witnessed this scenario you are probably wondering whether the CEO is genuine or are they blowing smoke. Consider this: Have you seen staff levels drop this past year but an increase in work load?, Are you constantly hearing that business is slow while seeing invoices with new clients on them. Are they hiring more front office employees and reprimanding more production employees?, Are they patching up old equipment and are they installing new equipment and telling you that "we are expanding so that we can remain competitive" meanwhile, cancelling  raises and bonus incentives. Finally, do you suspect that overtime is plentiful because the wages are so low?. If so they are probably are being less than honest. No company stays in business unless it can make profit. No company will spend money on new equipment if they were in fear of failing.

An employee should perform the task they promised for the wages they promised pending increases. Likewise the employer should be honest and forthright to employees. taking advantage of common knowledge of the ecomic  downturn with cliches and code words that persuade the employee to expect less form their employeris un American. Third world countries practice this behavior. They are  coined as "sweatshops",and  "slave labor". American companies are far from the unsanitary working conditions found in many of   those places, but not treatment.

The economy will come back there will be more options available to the American worker. Perhaps then companies who practice this bad business will be rewarded.
